Studio Tilt

Studio Tilt is a small, fast-paced design studio with one goal: to question and reimagine familiar encounters between humans and things.

I worked with them on the Data Epics (a collection of fictional stories crafted from home IoT devices) and the Inner Ear (a ceramic device that captures vibrations within participants’ homes to physicalize their data into a unique sculpture).

key takeaways

learning to acknowledge and confront my biases is part of the process. throughout my time at studio tilt, I had the opportunity to interview many participants. a lot of the time, my perception was wrong.

working in any team requires clear and transparent boundaries. all parts of the machine need each other to work — whether its web design, video, or content writing, everyone needs to be on the same page.

understanding our audiences concerns and gaining consent is paramount to create a respectful and safe exchange of information.

iteration is an ongoing process that requires discussion, critique, and a 'moving-forward' attitude. don't take things too seriously.
